The Wolfe Family newborn session was incredibly sweet.  We love to personalize sessions so that they are custom for your family and will bring back memories for years to come.  Dad is a Detroit firefighter and we incorporated his helmet within the photo shoot. Seeing sweet Abigail nestled in a pink blanket within the very equipment that keeps her Dad safe was really special.  In addition to Abigail's photos, we also took pictures of her parents.  The pride and joy in their faces as they looked down at little Abigail is immeasurable.

There is only a short window of time to capture the newborn moment of little fingers, tiny toes, wrinkled backs and sleepy faces.  Babies are going through a great transition and change by the day at this age.  Newborn sessions are best done when babies are 14 days old and younger.  Ideally, we recommend a Day 5 to Day 10 window of time to photograph.  During this time, babies tend to be sleepier, still have their fresh newborn hair and easily curl up into position.

Our newborn session takes place within our cozy studio located just outside of the downtown New Baltimore area (easily accessible from I-94).  The studio setting ensures that we have direct access to perfect lighting and camera equipment needs.  In the studio, we also house 100+ backdrops that you can choose from  in addition to an ever expanding selection of newborn photography props such as baskets, blankets and wraps.  We have everything you need within our studio so do not worry  (we are moms too and know how it can be with a new little one!).  We keep the studio at 80 degrees to ensure that your newborn is warm and comfortable.  At the studio, you will also have access to a changing area with a bathroom, sink and changing table to ensure that the session is as easy and carefree as possible.  Our goal is a relaxed, pressure-free environment where you and your family feel as comfortable as possible.

It was an honor to photograph Abigail's session.  If you have an upcoming baby due, please consider capturing this special time in your life.  Give us a call to talk about a session or click here to book your appointment online.  We pride ourselves on personalizing your session to celebrate the moments that bring meaning to your life.

We do both location and indoor photo shoots at Capture A Moment.  Asia and Matt chose to utilize the studio because they wanted their session to be all about family.  Everyone interacting and being together is what they wanted to capture.  We did Asia's maternity photos plus some other family photos in the past.  We are happy that you came back to us for this family session.

Their kids are Autumn (11), Carter (2) and Matti (8 mo).  We worked on a few different settings for the individual family members plus took some shots of the entire family together.  Matti was adorable.  We took quite a few photos with this little one alone then paired her with Carter as well as Autumn reading to the two of them.  We also did photos of the entire famiy and a few other individual pairings.  Asia did a great job styling the outfits.  She went black and white because she felt it would be "neat and sophisticated".   Everyone in white really helped to bring a cohesiveness to the session.

Now is the time to give us a call, set up your session and Capture these special moments that you will cherish for a life time.  If you have questions, or need some help deciding on a location, give us a call. We are always happy to set up a free consultation with you prior to your session to make it the best session ever!  Call today or book your appointment online.

Emily is a senior at Anchor Bay High School.  Congrats on your senior year Emily!  Emily is the Drum Major of The Marching Tars which is the marching band for the high school.  Marching band is something that takes total dedication and is an incredible amount of effort.  Being Drum Major of such an elite group is quite an accomplishment.  The Marching Tars march at the home football games, local parades, events and the District 16 MSBOA Marching Band Festival.  "The Pride of Anchor Bay High School" earned a 1st Division rating at Festival this year.  Awesome!

We are big fans of marching band at Capture A Moment Photography.  We know it takes an incredible amount of work.  Congrats on the Drum Major position as well as your senior year. Thanks for choosing Capture A Moment Emily.  We are honored to have been chosen.

Haley Provost is a senior at L'Anse Creuse High School.  She participates in the Early College Program at Macomb. After high school graduation, she plans to finish up the MCC program then transfer to finish either U of M or Wayne State to pursue Pre-Med.

Haley desired a natural, outdoorsy setting for her pictures and we were able to recommend a few options which she took advantage of.  She wanted this type of feel because she is the most comfortable being outdoors.  It's no wonder that her favorite extracurricular activities are outside. Haley's passion throughout the years has definitely been soccer. She began playing AYSO at the age of 6 and then moved to a couple different club travel teams. She has been playing with FC Union for the past 5 years and has developed some amazing friendships over the years with her teammates. We also go camping for several weeks each year and that is the reason Haley wanted her pictures taken in a more 'natural' setting.

Haley isn't the type that is super comfortable around a camera. We hear this a lot but Jen and Ang are great at working with everyone.  She felt very comfortable with our duo behind the lens.  Haley's advice to others having their photos done is to try and relax and be  yourself so that you are as natural as possible.  This extended to her attire as well.  She kept it simple with the jewelry and utilized 3 outfits.

Charlotte turned 1 and we are so happy that her family chose to come back and celebrate it with us.  Charlotte is the cutest thing ever.  And, she is so incredibly stoic which makes us giggle.  As her mom will attest, this gal is a tough one to make smile (even at home) but we got a little one out of her during our session.  Getting kids to smile is something that isn't always easy.  Even adults and our seniors have a hard time.  Of our two photographers, Ang is usually the one who has to reach into her bag of tricks to make our clients laugh.  She has perfected the Elmo Song,  can fake a pretty good very high-pitched sneeze and has a trusted cat toy that you can't help but laugh when it gets taken out. We do whatever it takes to get it done.

We love you little Charlotte.  God bless and congratulations on your 1st birthday.  Thanks for allowing us to celebrate your moments.

Little Havana is the center of this beautiful family.  It shines through in her photos.  Her Mom's main goal in booking a photo session was to capture memories with her daughter, the grandparents and herself.  We met them at George George Park where many people head to take photos.  The park has an abundance of beautiful settings with water, ducks, fountains and greenery.  In addition to this, they timed their session to hit the Fall colors.  It was the first time that we've worked with Havana's family and we really enjoyed it.  Mom commented on our knowing the location well - we certainly do!  We know every inch of George George, including some secret locations that only we are aware of.

Thank you for choosing Capture A Moment for your family photography session.  We know these will be memories that will last you forever.

Don and Melissa are college sweethearts (Go Blue!) who married seven years ago but have been together for twenty!  Wow - congrats!  Their sweet daughter is Berkley who loves to read everything with words or letters on it and is anxiously awaiting the debut of her new brother or sister after Thanksgiving.  This combination maternity/family session took place on a gorgeous day at George George Park.  It was a crisp 45 degrees however the sun was out and warmed us up.  We love the company of the Wolford family.  They have always felt very at ease in our sessions (repeat clients!) and we love catching up with them and documenting  their lives.

Melissa chose Berkley's outfit from Babies R Us and then Mom & Dad matched their clothes to what Berkley wore.  Melissa was a bit nervous given she was pregnant with a lot to juggle at the time.  Melissa said, "I took a deep breath and tried to trust that our family was beautiful and perfect the way we were every day and that Jen and Ang would capture that.  Relax, and don't worry about perfection...Jen and Ang are total pros, and they will capture the best parts of your family, regardless of how well you prepare.".  It warms our heart to know that you placed your trust in us.  We are so happy to have photographed your family.  The joy on Berkley's face tells a beautiful story.

The Ross Family's favorite activity is feeding the ducks and playing at the park.  They incorporated this into their recent family session that took place at the Rochester Municipal Park.  Years from now, Brandon and Kristyn will be able to look back and vividly remember the fun that Matthew had while feeding the ducks at this age.  Incorporating these types of moments from childhood are sweet reminders of a day gone by.

Matthew is an extremely active toddler and Kristyn was a bit worried about him posing however we have worked with Matthew before and she was confident that we could capture the family's personalities.  Her best advice is to be yourself in the photo session and rely on Jen & Ang to capture the experience.

We hope that you love your pictures Ross family.  Thanks for allow us to photograph your family.  #celebrateyourmoments with #captureamomentphoto

Sabrina is a senior at Lake Shore High School.  She took us up on our suggestion to head downtown and try out the new location that we have with the reflective background.  There is a very urban feel to this which we love.  In addition, we were lucky and had a morning photo shoot which allowed us to utilize the mirrored street art wall. During the day, the reflection is too much but the morning sun is at an angle that allows us to photograph against the artistic piece.  Win win.  We love it when we can combine new and different locations that allow for something new to be added to the senior mix.

Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your senior year Sabrina.  It was great spending time with you.

Michael Sherako is graduating from L'Anse Creuse High School this year.  Congrats on being a senior Michael!  We took his pictures at Lake St. Clair Metropark where we had the lush wetlands and blue water to utilize as a backdrop.  Michael is part of the L'Anse Creuse High School Marching Lancer and Symphony Bands.  He incorporated his love of music into the photo shoot at Metro.  These are great props to utilize because they illustrate the years of hard work and dedication.  Michael has spent hours and hours of time rehearsing and performing with his instrument and it is an integral part of his high school life as it is with many of his friends.  His band jacket tells the hard work story with the patches that signify his accomplishments over his high school career.    Thanks for choosing us for your photos Michael.  We are happy to be a part of your senior year.

A big congrats to Paige on her senior year at L'Anse Creuse High School.  We do a lot of photo shoots in New Baltimore.  The waterfront, bricked buildings and surrounding wetlands provide us a large variety of backgrounds to work with.  Our seniors typically need a more formal portrait for the senior yearbook so the Capture A Moment 2,500 sq foot studio is super convenient to get to at Green & County Line Road (minutes from 94).   If you need senior pics or family photos, consider our backyard - New Baltimore.  We love it.

Today's blog comes straight from one of our clients.  We have worked with Dustin and Michelle Ihnat for years. Their 4 year old daughter is Sophia and she loves parks which is why they chose a photo session at George George.  They were rewarded with an 80 degree fall day full of color.  After each photo session, we send a questionnaire which asks our clients for their thoughts on how the session went, any advice they have for families who are thinking of booking, etc.  This feedback helps to ensure that we are providing a family friendly, professional experience.  Michelle's questionnaire came back with great advice plus some kind words on her experience that we think might help provide comfort to any potential NEW client considering Capture A Moment for the first time.

Here are Michelle's recollections:

Tell us about your favorite parts of our session, or why you enjoyed the session.  "Jen and Ang navigated the park effortlessly, and knew exactly which areas of the park would provide the most beautiful background for our photos. We had such a wonderful time throughout our entire session, Jen and Ang always make our sessions so much fun!"

"I love plum and navy blue color combinations, especially for the fall season. I chose to incorporate plum and navy blue hues while focusing on comfort when selecting our outfits".

What are some words of wisdom you have for other families preparing for a family session?  "Words of wisdom I can provide based on my personal experience is to go with the flow and trust that Jen and Ang will capture the most beautiful moments of your family/children, regardless of the circumstances. As a mother of a toddler, I know first hand that things do not always play out as we envision; however, regardless of whether my toddler is running around, making "snow angels" on the floor or communicating via facial expressions/body language that she is not happy with mom/dad because of something that happened moments before or even during our session...Jen and Ang are somehow always able to capture beautiful photos of our daughter and family".

We have done many sessions with Jen and Ang; we continue to book sessions, as Jen and Ang always capture such beautiful moments of our daughter and family that we will forever cherish".

We always have such a wonderful experience with Jen and Ang; they make our sessions so much fun, and are always able to capture the most beautiful moments of our daughter and family".

This senior has big plans for her future.  In addition to finishing up the Early College Program at Macomb, Olivia is looking at Central Michigan and possibly studying abroad in Germany.  First, she graduates fromAnchor Bay this year where she participates in forensics and drama.   Olivia kept it natural during her shoot.  She brought along four outfits so that she could have some variety.  Her selection very much mirrored her every day life. She utilized casual outfits that are a reflection of who she is.  Because she wanted something with a fall feel, we recommended one of our secret riverside locations in addition to George George Park.  "The photographers gave great suggestions by the river and I loved it", commented Olivia.   One key piece of advice  from her, "Woods and heels don't go together".  There is a story there but we will leave that for another day :)

Thanks for choosing Capture A Moment for your senior photography.  We think these pictures really capture who you are.

Jacob is a Senior at L'Anse Creuse High School but already has his foot in the college door due to also being enrolled in the Early College Program of Macomb Community College.  That education will serve you well if you embark on a career in the Air Force or Marines which you are considering.

Jake participates in the Varsity Boys Cross Country Team, the swim team and track at LCHS.  In between those activities plus long boarding and hanging out with friends, he managed to set some time aside to shoot his senior pictures!  We photographed at the High School on the athletic field, our New Baltimore Studio and the area surrounding our location.  He wore his suit coat and tie for the more formal yearbook pics but brought along his team uniform and varsity jacket to use in the more casual shots.  Jake had some great temps with our unseasonably warm weather during the fall season.  His long board also showed up in a few shots!

Little Vivienne is ONE!  We were lucky to photograph this cutie when she was 6 months old.  We are thrilled that she came back for her one-year pictures.  It's so nice to see the little ones grow.  Her Mom booked a 30 minute studio session which was the perfect amount of time.  Vivienne wore her 1st birthday dress and a 2nd outfit that was a bit more casual and cute for fall.  She also had a bow and headband which are fun ways to complete a little girl's outfit.

We asked Vivienne's Mom why Capture A Moment Photography?  "I really like the studio set up and all the flooring and background options you have. I am not very creative so it helps to have photographers who can think up an idea based off the outfit and have the pictures turn out great!".  In regards to the session length, Viv's Mom had this to say, "For 30 minutes we got a lot of photos with different outfits and poses. It moved fast and Jen and Angela work great together and I am amazed at all the awesome they get of Vivienne." Thanks for the nice comments!  We love feedback because it helps us to craft the custom experiences that we have become known for.   Thanks for stopping by the studio and allowing us to celebrate Vivienne's big moment with you.

We are the only New Baltimore photographer with our own studio.  If you haven't stopped by, please check us out or call 586-646-8189.

Nathan Smith is a senior at L'Anse Creuse High School where he is a member of the Marching Band, Wind Symphony and Swim Team.  Nathan is a leader in the band and is known as an all-around great guy.  We have known Nathan's family for years so it was great fun to have them join us at the photo session downtown at Belle Isle.

We kicked the session off at the Belle Isle Casino where we utilized the brickwork and arches to frame our photos.  We then headed to the Casino Way Bridge which is the historic bridge with ornate cast iron guard rails and plaques.  It is a beautiful place to shoot the water in addition to the gorgeous red color of the bridge.  Nathan did a clothing change from his suit to a more casual look which we shot using some of the greenhouses and rustic buildings as background.  We then hit the Belle Isle Conservatory and the majestic  James Scott Memorial Fountain.  By then, the sun was setting and we had a stunning backdrop along the Detroit River with the Renaissance Center towers as a backdrop.  You couldn't have asked for a better way to end the night.  What a great shoot.

Thanks for letting Capture A Moment Photography be a part of your senior year Nathan.

If you are graduating this year or have a student graduating this year, it is now time to have Senior Pictures taken!  Call today at 586-646-8189 or feel free to book online.
