Testimonials
Thank you to Angela and Jen for making the drive and braving the cold for our engagement pics!
Andrea P.Jen and Angela were very friendly and professional! I look forward to seeing our family photos and hopefully booking them again!
Shannon H.They were awesome. Knew where to take pictures based on light etc. They were very personabIe was extremly pleased.
Nancy G.Wonderful, as always!
Lisa Y.This is the second time we have used them. They are WONDERFUL, we had such a great experience. They worked well with our kids, and knew when they needed a break and when the kidswere done. Angela and Jen were laid back and never made us feel rushed! It was another A+++ exprience.
Julie C.Angela and Jen are wonderful!! They spend the time necessary to get the great shots and they were wonderful with our 18 month old daughter. We love working with them and will do so again in the future.
Lori K.We couldn’t be happier with our engagement pics! You ladies do amazing work!!:)
Melissa M.On Saturday Jen and Angela photographed my daughter and her family, some fantastic shots in a peaceful location. Just from the sneak preview, I can tell I’m going to love every single photo. If you are looking for great photographers, give Capture A Moment in Photography a call.
Maureen D.Let me tell you how awesome you guys are…it took me 2 months to get an appointment with another photographer who then cancelled 3 times. Called you guys on Friday, got a session in on Saturday, proofs were up on Sunday, and received my CD with images that turned out just GREAT on Tuesday! Definitely recommending you and using you guys again!
Teresa A.Jen and Angela were patient to the extreme and I thought that after all that time of wrangling our two, that perhaps they had “captured a moment” we wouldn’t want to display on our walls. Boy, was I wrong and was happily surprised when the proofs came in and there was lovely picture after lovely picture of my children looking adorable and happy and joyful. They worked magic! I can say that we are excited to have found…

7 Month Old Jude
7 Month Old Jude! Every month we get to see this little guy and it is so fun to watch him grow! Each month we try harder and harder to get his elusive smile! This month things went a little bit better and we captured a few of his cute smiles!
Monthly pictures are definitely commitment! It isn’t always easy to find time once a month to get meet up with us and come up with something new to do but the effort is so very worth it. It is one of the packages offered in our newborn packages. If you are someone that loves to see the growth of your child captured each month to keep a record of his first year, this package is for you! Babies change sooooo much during that first year. You start with a fresh newbie lump of love and then you see the first smile, the first time they can hold their heads up, the first time they can sit by themselves, the first time they stand unsupported and then crawling and walking. It is amazing to see the changes just month to month let alone of the span of one year! The babies also have a chance to get to know me and feel comfortable with me as each month passes. This allows for easier picture taking because they already have a level of familiarity with me. If you are having a baby recently, this would be a great package to consider.
Baby Jude has been seeing us just since Easter and his 5th month birthday and he has grown so much in that little bit of time already! I look forward to seeing this little guy every month and I will be sad for his first birthday to come and go! Thanks to Jude and his mom and dad for sticking it out and continuing to visit me every month! See you at 8 months!

Five Month Baby Photo Shoot with Leo
Recently, we had our five Month baby shoot with baby Leo. It is amazing to watch him grow and grow. He is a beautiful and smily little man. He and I have definitely created quite a bond with each other over the last 5 months and each month I look forward to seeing him again very soon. His mama is the beautiful and talented “cake Lady” and owns Cake by Olivia. If you are looking for beautiful and delish cakes, look no further, this lady is your gal!
I truly believe that it is important to document the growth of each new baby throughout their first year. They change the most during those first few months and it is a time in life that you will only vaguely remember. We as parents believe that we will always remember every little detail but sadly that just can’t be true. The little details of daily and monthly life become blurred and blended into years and as they age and we age, we lose some of those precious memories. A child grows, learns, explores and changes daily. The monthly shoots with Leo give us all a chance capture his cute little essence each month. His smile without teeth, how he doesn’t quite sit up but almost rolls over. All these little things are now captured forever and we are proud to be a part of that!
We offer multiple packages for you to have the chance to capture every moment possible during that first year with your newest member of your family. Our packages are as flexible as we are and we truly want to make sure you get every image you could possible want for that year. If you are expecting or your freshie was just born, contact us today and set up your appointment for your first shoot! After that we can discuss a package that will work best for you and your little one for the next year.

Children’s Photography in the Studio
We’ve had the studio for some time now and recently have doubled in size. If you haven’t been in please stop by and get the tour. With the expansion, we now have one large room to photograph in, which has freed up the original room in the front. That room gets a beautiful amount of natural light. The natural light is often great for children’s photography as we can fire off a lot more frames, and thus catching all the energy of the little ones! Sometimes the flash just can’t keep up with kids. Frankly, by the end of a busy day, I’m pretty sure all of the adults have a difficult time keeping up with them! If only we could bottle that energy.
The other day I had the pleasure of photographing one of the sweetest little girls, and some of the session I did in the natural light in the front photography room. I swear the most recent chair I picked up was made specifically for little girls and one of our favorite printed green backdrops. We often keep that in the natural light room. Part of photographing children is being flexible. We always give them a little bit of control because a happy child makes for much better photos that a forced posed one. So when she picked the couch in the waiting area, I rolled with it. The lighting in there isn’t the greatest, and I didn’t have high hopes, but much to my surprise, I love them! Apparently she has a good eye for a spot in natural light, even when I don’t see it at all.
She did fantastic and I think her mom is going to be pleased with the results. Mom didn’t have high expectations, and figured one good shot was great, and two was even better, but unexpected. I’m pleased to say that she will have a lot more than one good one to choose from.
If you haven’t seen our recently expanded space, NOW is the time. We are booking up fast but the studio is a great place for when the weather doesn’t cooperate. When it is too hot, when it is raining or when you don’t feel like chasing a child through the park. Oh, and if you happen to find another cool chair that you think we should add to our collection, send us an email pronto. We LOVE chairs!
Happy Birthday, Smash that Cake!
Happy First Birthday Elliana!! We had a great time taking pictures with you this week! Elliana is a beautiful little girl with beautiful eyes and a great personality. We have had a chance to photograph Elliana and her family a few times during her first year and this was by far the most fun!
Mom came more then prepared with beautiful outfits that she found at It’s So Me Boutique. LOVE that place!! The hat, the outfits, the balloons and the banner were perfectly coordinated. Mom took the time perfectly match and coordinate the cake as well and it smelled DEEE-LISH! Baby Elliana truly enjoyed her first birthday cake and we enjoyed taking pictures while she dug in. We were hoping for a full face in the cake moment but that didn’t come. Hopefully, she will be good and warmed up for her actually birthday party
Smash that Cake!
Smash the cake birthday shoots have become all the rage, check out our Pinterest Page for other ideas in case you are interested in doing the same for your little one year old! We have also posted a few others on our blog and each and everyone is a little bit different. Sometimes they cry the entire time and some times they try to escape the entire time. Either way, always know, something fun will come out of a Smash That Cake session! Everyone ends up with frosting on them and inevitably the outfits take quite a bit of frosting abuse but it is sooooo worth it in the end. Take a minute and book your Cake session today!

Happy Birthday! One Year & Cake Smash Photography Session
We’ve had the chance to photograph this little dude a few times over the last year. So, we were really excited to be able to photograph his first birthday, and, as we always do with this family, had a blast! It doesn’t hurt that this session involved cake smash photography! Who doesn’t love a good cake smash?!?!!?
A photo session to mark baby’s one year mark is a must, and as I’m sure our blog readers and Facebook followers have noticed, it has become really popular to include a little cake smash fun in the session. He was pretty thrilled with the frosting, and being a little boy on the run, there was a nice trail of frosting footprints left behind on the studio floor. :) Thankfully we have a full bathroom here making cleanup a breeze, so baby can leave with that fresh baby wash smell instead of a sticky frosting covered mess! Bonus!!
Happy Birthday, Jack!

And Baby Makes Three – Announcing Pregnancy
Well, we have been sitting on this blog post for some time now. I am beyond excited to be able to finally share it with everyone, at least everyone that reads our blog. One of our favorite past clients called to book a session. We did their engagement and also their wedding, and when she called I knew instantly why. ;) Rachel and Erik were looking for an original way to announce their first pregnancy, and to say I was thrilled to have gotten the call, well it is certainly an understatement.
I decided if Rachel and Erik were going to get to plan a surprise, then so was I. So, I called up Ang and told her there was a mini session scheduled that she wasn’t going to want to miss. That was all the detail I was going to give, and unfortunately for Ang, I’ve got a really good poker face! In the end, I kept the secret, and Ang was totally surprised and excited.
I had so much fun with this session and by looking at the photos, I think Rachel and Erik did too. We can’t thank you enough for sharing your lives with us, and we can’t wait to meet your new addition!!
Congrats Rachel & Erik!

Pinterest Thursday! Let there be LIGHT!!
I think this is my third Pinterest Thursday already and let’s just say LET THERE BE LIGHT!! Here is the image that inspired my Pinterest Thursday Post. It makes me sing a song in my head to the tune of I’m dreaming of a White Christmas, but with Sunny Thursday in place of White Christmas. Can you hear it? I can!
Yesterday was such a glorious and Sunny day and today it has been threatening storms all day. For all of us in MI, we should be used to this crazy weather. But C’mon already!! I am tired of shooting in the studio and I am ready for trees, leaves, grass, mud, water fountains, sun, warm wind. Sounds glorious, doesn’t it?!?! What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods? Are you enjoying beautiful and sun-filled days or is it still cold and dark? Let me know, and if you are inspired by this post, go to our facebook page and post a picture of your most inspired light photos. I love light, particularly sunsets *hint, hint*!
The funny thing about light is that it can make our jobs soooooo much harder but it can make the results soooooo magnificent if handled properly. We have our own fair share of images that include the sun and I personally LOVE an amazing sunset. Seriously, that is definitely one way to just stare at the awww that is this life. That and Babies, but you all know how I feel about babies
I love the warmth that sun gives to everything. It can make vicious shadows and taking pictures of a bride in a white gown in full sun is the stuff a Photographers nightmares are made of! But, if done properly, the results can be stunning! If you are wondering what time of day is best to utilize the sun, go for sunrise and sunset. It gives you a gorgeous glow and warmth that hugs everything around it. Mid day sun is the harshest and gives off shadows under your eyebrows, making you look like you have raccoon eyes.
Take a minute and surf through Pinterest, you would be amazed at the inspiration that is around you. Check out our Pinterest board Light Inspiration, be sure to Follow us and see a little bit more of what inspires us! If you are anxious to have your pictures taken in the sunlight, be sure to set up your appointment with us NOW! Those appointments book quickly and the warm weather only lasts so long! Happy Thursday!

Mother’s Day Photography – Mini Sessions
Mother’s Day Photography… it is the perfect gift for Mom! In honor of the upcoming holiday, we are now booking our popular 30 Minute Mini Sessions just in time for Mother’s Day. Bring in the family and capture a moment that she will cherish forever! Even if you don’t bring Mom along, a photo of just the kids, or grandkids is something she will surely cherish.
I don’t know about you, but my Mom is pretty hard to buy for. There comes a point where it feels like she has everything, but a framed print makes a great gift and something that she couldn’t/or wouldn’t go out and do herself.
Our mini sessions last 30 minutes and include your choice of 5 digital images in high resolution along with a photo release. The images are available via download, so no waiting for your DVD to arrive. We can even order prints for you or suggest another local lab for our printing needs.
Give us a call at 586-646-8189, email us at info@captureamomentphoto.com or drop us a note on facebook to reserve your spot. These will fill up fast, so don’t delay.
